Instagram hits over 300 million monthly users (Hard work and focus pays)

I read about the C.E.O and co-founder of Instagram (Kevin Systrom) on Business Insider.

Kevin grew up in a small town in Massachusetts, northeastern United States.

He started practicing computer programming after his primary school and he studied Management Science and Engineering in the university but his passion for programming continued as he went along.

He interned at Odeo (a company founded in 2005 by Evan Williams) which later turned into Twitter while he was in the university. He worked in Google, Nextstop and kept going with his passion till he met some investors from Base line Ventures and Andresen Horowitz who invested in his passion. At this time he invited Mike Krieger (the co-founder and technical lead) to join him.

The two of them created a product called burbn (a check-in app), after going through different procedures, they birthed Instagram and made photo sharing
the major feature of the app. Kevin Systrom gave a reason for starting Instagram when he said “Instagram came from a realization that people didn’t like our first product” he said people felt the first product was complicated.

Facebook acquired the photo sharing app for $1billion in 2012 in a cash and stock deal value.
Now, what they started as 2 friends has grown so much that more than 70 million photos and videos are shared each day (including my own o).

According to (CNBN news yesterday), Instagram now has over 300 million monthly active users bigger than Twitter, and an average of 2.5 billion daily likes.
